This is the first part in a series of functional conditioning exercises for aerialists. These exercises can be added to dynamic warm ups or strength training in your programs.

In this first video, Free Coulston, physiotherapist and co founder of Circus Training Australia takes us through assisted squats.

Free explains the proper technique you should train, and how squats will help to strengthen the gluteal muscles which can prevent hip and lower back injuries. This is especially important in skills that involve twisting or landing with most of the weight on one leg, such as drops on tissu.
